My car on our driveway was broken into last night and had my cds, MP3 players and some loonies stolen. My street is off Seaboard gate near Portage park. Watch your car and be alert.
Welcome to summer and again a note of caution. Remember to lock your cars and be aware that you should never leave any items of value in your vehicle. I was told today from a neighbour that another neighbours car was broken into close to the park. I'm sure it wasn't a random occurence and as I've just returned from some R&R it wasn't one of our vehicles.
Again, please lock your car. Don't leave valuables in your vehicles and if you have older kids out and about remind them that vandalism isn't cool....
Thanks and enjoy the (hopefully) warm, dry summer weather.
Cheers!
i am noticing a trend here with the property thing .....once in this thread and another time in the mail thread.....respect for property is one thing but walking across my boulevard to get your mail is no problem by me....i am not that picky
Is there damage to vehicles being done or are items being taken out of unlocked cars?
Heddy....there is no way to empty out my one car garage for my car. It just would never fit. I will take my chances and bring all my valuables inside.
There was a car stolen from a driveway on Seaboard Gate last night, (Sunday)
Apparently there were also a couple others in the neighbourhood,,,,,,,does anyone have more info???????
All crimes big and small should be reported. If the police think a small crime is funny then they are unprofessional and as bad as the person committing the crime in the first place. I realize they won't and shouldn't drop everything to investigate it but it should get a place on their priority list even if it's at the bottom.
There was a report on the Durham Police web site over the weekend. (2) 17 year olds and (2) 16 years old were caught trying to enter parked cars in Brooklin. They are now facing a total of 120 charges, various items were recovered including cell phones, wallets, I pods, car radios etc. The (4) could face additional charges as the investigation is on going. Items will be returned to the owners if possible, check the web site to see who to contact to make a report or to see if you can recover any items you may have had stolen.
Man of Mystery
The person stealing your belongings doesn't think it's a big deal, if the police feel the same way then they are just as bad.
I've been stopped for doing 110 in a 100 zone. That was a small offence but for some reason nobody was laughing. I was wrong, I got a fine and I paid it. I've gotten parking tickets when my meter was only expired for five minutes, small infraction, but once again, nobody was laughing.
I love to laugh but I fail to see the humour in reporting that your property has been stolen.
I find it hard to believe that you would say police officers that laugh at a call are just as bad as the criminals themself. Since when is laughing a criminal offense?
I did not say the police wouldnt take the report - of course they will - but it will be placed very low on the priority list. If its worth your time to spend hours waiting for the police to file a report on a few missing dollars, then by all means go ahead.
I think the lesson here should be that we should all lock our vehicles.
