Folks,
Beware of credit card fraud in this and other areas while dining. When dining at restaurants you may want to reconsider paying with your credit card. My Visa card was duplicated (swiped using a card-reader) and a slew of unauthorized purchases were rang up over the weekend on my account. As you all know, when you pay for your meal, the waiter takes your card away for a period of up to 5 minutes or so to process the transaction.
I regularly use my credit card at Swiss Chalet, Kelsey's, etc when eating out. I will not be doing that any longer unless I accompany the waiter/waitress to the terminal and eyeball them performing the transaction.
The Visa fraud guy told me this morning it is starting to be an epidemic where unscrupulous waiters are getting jobs at restaurants and swiping unsuspecting customer's credit cards with a pocket-sized card reader to make some extra dough. After their shift is done, they go home and program "homemade" credit cards embossed to look just like a Visa or Mastercard or give the said reader to their buddies who make their living on the black market selling duped credit cards.
These credit card companies have got to do more to protect cardholders. Be careful out there!
