Hi All - was just in the park and a couple came up to us who have found on Sunday, an untagged, male Bermese Mountain Dog. They are taking care of him, but if you or someone you know is missing theirs.... please call them at 905-626-0456

Is it a puppy? Which park was it found in?

I am not too familiar with the Bermer breed, but compared to friends of ours, this one was alot smaller in size, so likely it'd be a puppy or still very young... it was in the park here in Whitby Shores where the ball diamond is - they were walking around with him to see if anyone recognized the dog - not sure where exactly they came across him. But they live here in the Whitby Shores area.

I know there's a young couple in the neighborhood who have a Bernese puppy that would probably about 4-5 months old now (so around 40-60 lbs). I don't know them, nor do I think I would recognize them if I saw them (like most dog lovers, I remember the dog before I remember the person walking the dog).

Do you know if they've checked to see if he's chipped? Most puppies come with that now and it's really quick & easy to do. It literally takes about 2 seconds to scan it. Just take the dog to a vet and they scan it's neck (the chip is under the skin). The chip contains the information of the breeder and (I think) owner. Once you get that, tracking down the owner would be a breeze. I imagine the vet would do it for free. If not, I'm sure the owner would pay for it just to get their dog back. I know I would.
I am not sure if this couple had done that yet - I didn't recognize them from around the neighbourhood but they had a dog of their own, so I am sure they would know about the chipping and such.... hopefully they can find the owners soon!

I called animal control and the owner called me back after a few hours.

The dog lived on the north side of Victoria..... I've seen him come down a few times since???

Thanks for the post!
