I was not correct in my original update. I've updated the information below based on my conversation with John Dolstra.

The 5 year Accomodation plan for Durham has not come in. We are still waiting for the new one . The New Ontario gov't doesn't meet again till end of November, so it won't happen until sometime after that.

What did happen, was that the DDSB did approve 4 schools to be built, which are in high population areas, but they have not received funding yet from the Ministry to build them. This happened separately from the Acco. Plan process.

Here is the plan for the four new schools :http://ddsb.durham.edu.on.ca/Pdf/Communi...School.pdf

My apologies again for the misinformation.

The latest DDSB numbers project the Whitby Shores area in having a student FTE of 349 for the 09/10 school year. This number is generally just short of building a school.. but not unrealistic given that we've seen schools in this size built.

I haven't presented to the DDSB as I have been waiting for an update on the former hospital lands development. At last count, there would be 682 homes and a 14 story tower. This would add 341 students as per ministry guidelines, and get us the school we need.

I keep a one page summary up to date on our numbers.. please PM if you'd like a copy.
