Kitty

I have been holding off from posting about this but it has been several weeks now and I am growing tired of the eyesore.

Everyday when I walk to my mailbox for about the last three weeks, I have noticed that the house on the corner has had several large garbage items out on their lawn. This includes an easy chair, what looks like a counter top and a large wooden table. Up until this week I was hopeful that the house owners would be responsible and have this garbage removed but it has been at least three weeks now with no end in site.

What do you do when your neighbours are not being responsible and leave garbage out for weeks bringing all our property values down? (I have a friend looking for a house in the area right now and real estate agents are even commenting to their clients about this house!)SadSad

Kitty, I know exactly which house your talking about...huge eye sore!!! maybe they think it's some sort of curb appeal

Call the Durham Region, or our local councillor ;0) . You can indicate that it has been there for 3 wks, give the location and ask that it be taken care of. Everyone is entitled to once a year free pick up for large items.
Maybe the homeowner is hoping someone can use this stuff, but I suspect its just lack of knowledge of what's available. We had a similar situation and it was true...they didn't know it was free or who to call.
A little help may solve your eyesore.
They're probably hoping someone will take it away. I always take my stuff to the dump at Ritson & Taunton (including hazardous materials like old oil). You pay by weight but it's a great way to do a couple of purges per year. They take EVERYTHING there, you just need to make sure it's sorted.
Hello all,

Can you please let me know via my email roye@whitby.ca which corner it is then I can get this looked into.

Also Porchlight is correct the individual probably does not know about the ability for the yearly pickup.

As Maddog does I also take waste up to Ritson and Taunton, just remember Sunday and Mondays they are not open and there is a minimal disposal fee.

Thanks
Elizabeth Roy
