This morning my blue box was stolen with all its contents (bottles) from the bottom of the driveway. Also stolen was a cardbox box with paper recycling. This all happened prior to 9 a.m. I live along Whitby Shores Greenway. In mentioning it to my neighbour his have been stolen a number of times in the past. I am still in shock!!!!
We had all the glass and metal taken out of our blue boxes today. I also saw a blue van driving around with a guy going through blue boxes. Maybe they had something to do with it.
All of our beer, wine and glass was taken too....I guess someone needs the $$$ they get from the refunds...They did not take the blue bins and they seemed to have picked through carefully with no spillage, so I don't care...better someone gets the $$$.
Thank you to the person who left our blue box on the porch this morning. We do not have issue with the empties taken. All is well now.
I saw that van parked the wrong way on WSG when I was leaving yesterday morning. I knew as soon as the government implemented return fees for liquor and wine bottles this would start to happen. Your Blue Box most likely blew away with the wind. Seems like that happens alot.
Jordan.

The blue box was full with plastic bottles (water - 1.5L), pop cans and one wine bottle. There was no sign of bottles flying loose on the street or people's front yards. Also, the cardboard box had old newspapers.Anyways the blue box has been returned.
You're lucky you got yours back. I had 3 large boxes on the end of my driveway. I came home a couple of weeks ago to find only 1 of them remaining. My boxes also had my address clearly marked on them and a quick drive around the area turned up nothing.
My blue boxes went on vacation for 2 months before returning. The trick is to spray paint your address on all four sides (don't be neat).
These may not have been stolen though. I mean it is a natural jump when they disappear but they do blow away easily. There are three blowing around my street this week with no names on them.

I've had boxes disappear on me many times in the 7 years I've lived here. This last set had my address in permanent marker on all 4 sides AND the inside. I managed to keep this set the longest so I think it worked. We are moving in 18 days so I would have needed to buy new ones anyway but still it's annoying especially considering the recent 2 week gap between pickups after Christmas and New Years. We hosted Christmas and New Years dinner parties this year and needless to say we had a mountain of recyclables to put out this week. I ended up having to use some boxes I got from the grocery store as recycle bins.
