Okay how long has this subject been going on for??? I have 2 cats [both indoors] but get let outside sometimes as well [in the backyard]. People have let out their cats since I was a little girl....they do it everywhere. Does it make it right??? No of course not but isnt there bigger things to worry about? I do however strongly agree with people leaving their cats out overnight...THAT IS CRUEL. But I dont have a problem with cats roaming free once in awhile. I have also paid for my cats licenses.
I just think if you dont want the ignorance of other people to affect your life or property go live in the country where you have zero neighbours....thats the only WAY of getting around all of this.

You say you don't have a problem with cats roaming free once in a while. Do you not have a problem with the fact that cats get hit by cars? Also there are all sorts of dangers out there - anti-freeze, discarded chicken bones, etc.
The way people speed down these streets is ridiculous and I know there are incidents of dogs being hit while crossing the street at a stop sign, so how many cats do you think have been hit crossing the street or chasing a squirrel. Also there was recent report on this site about a fox being seen with a cat in its mouth. I have rescued three cats who lived outside and I promised them I would never subject them to the perils of outdoor living again.
