I hate this time of year, so I was thinking,,,this would be a great time to start a thread on how much, and why, we love this community.
There is so much going for it, that no one really promotes.
Well, heather and I love it anyway.
"Happy New Year" all.
I would love to second that motion!!! My kids and my other half and I love it here!!!!Best place we ever lived!
I agree big time. We picked this neighbourhood based on it's beautiful setting and the great dog walking possibilties, not to mention the neat Cape Coddy style houses, wide streets and ginormous boulevards/bottom of driveways.

A lot of the posts on here have become increasingly negative but as far as I'm concerned, I love our little Whitby Shores and don't plan on moving to any other pastures anytime soon.

While some may think things are "greener" elsewhere, I don't think they've really considered all that we've got going for us down here.

Thanks for starting the Neighbourhood Appreciation post!!!

This is a great place to live. We moved here from Toronto and there is just no comparison. Sure there are some issues but you would have a lot more in other areas.

Personally, I love that we have rabbits in our back yard and that this community won't get much bigger because of our conservation area.
Couldn't have said it better. Been here 8 years and hubby, kids and all love it. Going to be hard to get our house so go away you pesky realtors I'm not moving.
Happy 2008!
I'm one of the people who posted a negative comment about Whitby Shores in another thread. I received a couple of PM's about it so I would like to clear the air:

We've lived here for about 7 years as the original owners and we love it. Unfortunately we (I) have had some run ins with neighbours recently and over the years but that doesn't change how we feel about the area. For those of you who are considering moving here, you're going to love it here. Unfortunately for us we've outgrown our existing home so we need to upsize. We wanted to stay in the area but we were unable to find any houses that had the features we were looking for so we had to look elsewhere. As I told someone else in a PM, this area is worth the premium paid for living here vs. anywhere else in Whitby, no question about it.

Funny thing is, the only thing we didn't like about this area was the lack of a grocery store. 7 years later and it's FINALLY being built. The irony of it all is that we live directy in front of it and as much as we don't mind it being there, we had a lot of issues selling the house with the Plaza being the only negative comment we received from potential buyers. The true irony is that it's opening the day AFTER we move. LOL.

I love it here too...been here since 2000.  In my 2nd home in same area.

Hey Mancubus could you clear up what you meant by "premium to live here"  I was just wondering if you meant taxes or house price.

Too bad i have to go into Toronto to work everyday. I think it's important that people are friendly to passers by too.  It just makes for a friendlier place to live.

Cool,,,,,,,,,,

It's cold up there to,,,believe me,,,,,,
and our very own A&P. I hope we all visit it regularly,,,or it will be gone. It looks Purdy,,,,I know we can't wait.
