I have a real distaste for the Go train commuters who choose to park illegally at the very end of the rows in clearly marked no parking zones as they are running late. It creates more traffic congestion and bottlenecking when we arrive home at night. From now on I am informing GO Transit when I see this. I hope they tow these knobs away.

Also, why does it take Go Transit in Whitby station like 3 months to fix an escalator. It's ridiculous! Do they order parts in from Japan via ground shipping?

Lastly, for those that take the train you must have noticed how packed the trains have become during the morning runs (especially the 752am). When we first moved out here in 2001 there were loads of seats available at Whitby and Ajax and most people at Pickering still got a seat. Fast forward 7 years and it's almost full at Whitby and the Ajax brood now scramble frantically for the odd free seat. Something has to be done soon.
Probably not Japan but maybe China Smile

I believe GO is getting new engines for some of the runs in March. The trains will be longer by 2 cars.

Couldn't agree with you more about the illegal parkers.  I have contaced GO several times about this and was actually going to do so again this week as it seems to be getting worse.  It is now getting to the point where it is dangerous.  Their response is: give us their license plate numbers and we will ticket them. I did call the number they gave because the e-mail said they would accept collect calls.  Well guess what - they don't.

I get the impression that parking enforcement simply goes to a different station every day... I agree it stinks that people are lazy enough to park at the end of the rows when the newer part of the lot is never 100% full. There are usually spots along the edges.

FYI, you can call GO Transit enforcement for free from any of the pay phones at the GO station - the number scrolls across the screen.

That GO station is deadly in the mornings too. My biggest complaint is the Go stationers who can't seem to stay on the sidewalk. I drop my husband off in the morning on a regular basis and people just jump out in front of you without even looking to cut the corner to the entrance near the car drop-off area. I am so afraid I will hit someone because they are rushing and not paying attention. That and if you honk your horn, you usually get a dirty look or the finger flashed at you.
In my humble opinion I find that a liberal application of the horn gets people moving pretty quickly. I'm amazed at how people walk (or more likely run!) across the pick up area in the South lot. Sidewalks are there for a reason: pedestrians. Just like the pick up area is there for a reason: cars. GO trainers are different breed for sure.

Jabber.

PS: I see they patched the pothole on Henry! Maybe this site works after all!

I don't get that either.  I also drop my wife off and pick her up often.  It amazes me how the Go Train people think that they can casually walk right in the middle of the lanes without a care in the world.

Here's one of my biggest GO PET PEEVES.

Loud talkers, when you're trying to read or relax. I just want to get on my cell and pretend I'm talking to someone, (loudly)...and say something like:
"OH HI SWEETY, YA I'M ON THE GO NOW SHMOOPY SHMOOPY...LUV YOU SHMOOPEEEE." WHAT'S THAT? SORRY I CAN'T HEAR YOU SOME PEOPLE HERE ARE REALLY REALLY LOUD... YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!!! WHAT'S THAT? OH YA THAT'S RIGHT I WON'T FORGET TO PICK UP THE TOILET PAPER ON THE WAY HOME.  LUV YOU CUDDLECAKES....BYE FOR NOW."

now how irritating is that on a 50 minute train ride?

that's MY rant
ROFLMAO

My wife takes the first train out in the morning. She said it used to be almost empty, now it is the opposite, even that early in the morning !!!

Problem is, most of the stations were build years ago and can't accommodate longer trains.

Funny post!

The other idiots I just love hearing are those who give credit card numbers, home and cell telephone numbers, home addresses and other personal info out over their cell in a packed GO train.

One lady called her daughters school and left all of the above one morning! And she didn't do it silently...she bellowed out all this info!

All this with identity theft and credit card fraud at an all time high!

Hilarious!

But were you fast enough to write it all down?  (Kidding!)

This is why I got a privacy filter for my laptop screen.  I shudder when I see bank employees whip out their laptops on the train and I can read everything they're doing.
I have to agree with all of the comments/venting here so far. I have also noticed the trains are getting way too full, but more so on the way home than on the way in. I take the 17:13 train home and if I'm not there by 17:07 I can't get a seat. Plus I also find it annoying during that time frame that there isn't a fully express train from Union to Pickering--mine stops at Danforth and Scarborough--but they have 2 other trains they could take (17:03 and 17:33) while my only other option is much later at 17:53 or too early at 16:53. Since the 17:13 is too full anyways, they should forget about stopping at Danforth and Scarborough and make it express all the way to Pickering. Or offer another train between 5:00 and 5:53 that is express to Pickering with continuing service, it's too large of a gap between trains at that peak time of day.

Another irritation--most people leaving the parking lot want to go north up Henry and the lineup of them turning right backs-up the entire lane of traffic leafing the parking lot. I tend to park on the end of the row (in a legal spot I might add :-) and just want to go the opposite direction, but no one ever wants to let me in. So many times I am blocked in while there is a perfectly empty road I could drive on, and these people are all just sitting there anyways, it's not like they are getting ahead by not letting me get out. It is extremely frustrating!

Something about the GO train seems to turn normally rational people into maniacs, that's for sure!
