Rumour has it that they weren't getting enough business to even cover their rent.
Don't know if that is a statement of how high the rent was, or how little business they got though.

Oh that's too bad. Sorry to here that. I hope that doesn't happen for other places over there!

It's a shame they closed, they did a great job sharpening skates.
They could have gotten more business but the town wasn't a big help in that department. They could not place ads at Iroquois due to the pro shop (run by the town) also they were told by the town they could not place flyers on car windows in the parking lot. They did anyway but received a warning from the town not to do it again.
If the town is serious about having more business relocate to the area this is not a good way to show it. I spoke with one of the owners a few times trying to work something out for the men's league that plays on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sunday. A league with about 30 teams paying $5500 for the winter season. Couldn't do anything with that either. (league run by town)
The pro shop does a terrrible job sharpening and prices are high for equipment. I will go back to Blades on Brock south of Hwy 2 to get them done.

Yup. The sign on their front door states non-payment of rent as the reason. Having come from a retail background I know you have to have at least 6 months rent and other operating costs squirelled away to reach a comfortable point of cash inflow. Sad really. I bought my son's helmet there. I figured given the proximity of Iroquois that they would do very well.
Jabber.
Jabber.

I really had no idea what type of business they were. They should have done some local advertising too. I would have gotten our skates sharpened there and we need a helmet for our daughter. That's too bad.
