I can't wait!

Thanks for letting me know when it's opening. Everyday I drive by and see th 24hr sign up there and keep wondering when I can stop by to get my dinner. Smile

We popped in today too around 2:00. The men in suits were still there and boy was it crowded. The aisles are ridiculously narrow, there is just enough room for two carts but at the ends of the aisles, they have gone a little overboard on display stands and only one cart can get through at a time.
They do have a great selection and it will be nice to be able to pop in at 3:00 AM (we have a new baby so we are up) when we need something.
Oh man. So we have been waiting for a grocery store for 7 years and now that it's been open for 1 (1!) day it's getting panned already. What do you expect? Ever been to a Tim Horton's in the first month of being open? Like the one in the same plaza? It's brutal. Give it time and things will improve. I really doubt anyone expected a Superstore in our plaza. I think we should be thankful for what we have. And considering that the only shopping choices within a 5 minute drive are Price Choppers, Valu-Mart and several seedy No Frills this place should do very well.

Hear, Hear! I don't think A&P would have put a store in our neighbourhood if they didn't think it would survive. Now if only Durham would put a school in my backyard.... But that's another story...

Wow I am really surprised at the things being said on here about our new store!  I am SO grateful to have a store of this quality 2 minutes from home that I can't complain about a single thing!  It is beautiful inside and the selection is incredible!

I will 100% take the hit on prices for the convenience of having it in our area!  After 7 years with no store I will appreciate it more than I ever thought I would!

We went last night after work and picked up a chicken dinner and it was perfect....no more running around Ajax and Whitby to get different things @ different stores.

And an added bonus - my airmiles will be going up!!!

People will complain about everything, and this thread proves it!

People, we have waited FOREVER for this convenience. Let's embrace it, and support it. I for one will do all my shopping at the new A&P.

I love how everyone jumps on everyone else here. Can't people give honest feedback?

Bundo,
Congratulations! It's easy to be positive isn't it! (;-)> I just came from the new store and I am blown away by how many different things are there. Great deli, bakery and a bulk seafood (albeit frozen) section. I've never seen that in any grocery store! I can almost taste the scallops on the Barby now... Whoever said the ailes were too small needs to see a doctor. Eye or weight... It's perfect. I grew up in Leaside in TO and there was a Loblaws right at the end of my street. It was great! Reminds me of times when I would go and get milk and bread for my family. Sniff! I think our property values just went up by 10%! Woo Hoo!

I thought I was the only one who complained in these forums!

We haven't checked out the store yet...but we are glad it's open and that more amenities are popping up around our fair community.

There! I was positive. It feels strangely refreshing.

I agree with Jabber, all of a sudden all our houses are worth more. I love that the store is in walking distance. It will be great to get fresh veggies and fruit during the week without having to drive over to the Superstore.

I hope they put in a doctor's office or walk in clinic in the plaza, that would be great!

I also noticed that when we were over there yesterday that the shop in between A&P and the Hockey Guys is being set-up. It looks like it might be a video store.

Damn you're right! LOL!
And the pothole problem goes back to the fact that it's only been open for a week or so. Give it time, things will get better. Once Spring comes the developer will put down the final layer of tarmac and all will be good. I was in there yesterday (for the 3rd time this week!) and things were great. They even carry Arthur's which is amazing for a compact store. Duly impressed.

Well if you "insist" on using that entrance then that's your choice. And with choices come consequences. Although I don't think a few potholes are much in the way of consequences.... Ever been to Montreal in the winter?

Since they opened in the middle of the winter, they had to go with how the parking lot was left before the cold set in last November. As stated above, they won't be able to fix the potholes until it warms up and likely not until they lay down the final layer. If you insist on going in the back way, youll have to live with the potholes I'm afraid.

It seems that this part of the parking lot was missed as the rest of the lot seems okay....it just seems odd that only part of the lot would be paved properly. While it can't be fixed "properly" until the spring they can do some temporary work to alleviate the problems at this access.

I do insist on taking the shortest route to get to the A&P and not adding unnecessary traffic to Victoria Street or Gordon Street. To me, they should have known that local traffic would be using this access and done a better job.
