I'm waiting for a notice stating that the playing fields at Gordon and WSG are going to be developed. Won't be long now I'm sure. I read that building permit revenues were way down in Durham so rules will be relaxed I bet... Brutal.

Jabber.
Maybe this will take the pressure off of the population density targets and they won't keep trying to pack people south of us.
If Elizabeth Roy is reading this post, is it even a possibility that the Iroquois Sports Fields could at some point be redeveloped into housing? I certainly hope not. Any and all existing park land should be maintained as such in perpetuity. There are more than enough empty lands or former farmlands for housing.

I'm assuming this new condo complex would be going in behind the Rowe condo where the boat building companies are currently?

Also, will the land further south between the Marina and the pier ever get developed. This is prime real estate for some sort of executive townhouse type development and a continuation of the Waterfront Trail and some landscaped parks.
The public meeting is on March 31, 7:30, on Rossland rd.
do you know if there's going to be any commercial buildings going in there? or is it all residential? just wondering
The discussion of any development around Whitby Shores has not involved the sports fields at all.

There is discussion about the future addition to Iroquois Park with the Abilities centre. Then to the north of you the development of the office and condos.
On the old Psych Lands this awaiting final decisions about the design before coming to the community.
Then behind the new plaza there is land set aside there for development.

If you can make it to the planning meeting Monday night it would be great to have community presence.
Thanks
Liz
Where is the meeting and what time?

Rental units or condos?

thanks Jasonholman, I was wondering how that meeting went yesterday... now they did say that these buildings/townhouses will be owned and not rented?
Glad to see the dialogue taking place about the development.

Some of the main concerns that also came out of present community members is the traffic congestion, the affect to the GO station, infrastructure improvements and access to commercial improvements.

Here is the newspaper article.

The next phase is to have public consultation into the concerns around the development.

If there are residents that are interested in having a community meeting with the Whitby Shores residents on this matter please send me and email and I will pull this together and have a presentation brought forward as well by the builder.

The need to involve the present community in the changes around the lakefront needs to be inclusive.
