This is an event happening in July that will see riders traversing through 41 communities including ours to travel the Waterfront Trail.
It starts in Hamilton on July 4th and will run 8 days, stopping overnight at various camping stops including Darlington. The rest stop is set to stop in Whitby on the Sunday.
You and your family might want to consider the challenge. I sure am!
Remember to wave this Sunday July 6th to the 180 riders and volunteers who will be taking the challenge of the Greater Waterfront Trail Adventure. The Durham Region section is this Sunday with overnight at Darlington Provincial Park so don't be surprised by the added bike traffic along the trail.
If you and your family would enjoy learning about the conservation efforts, join Second Marsh for "A Day with Friends" which coincides with the ride. Located at the foot of Colonel Sam Drive in Oshawa adjacent to GM Headquarters, you can park and walk to the Wildlife Area where trails, and local experts are providing information about the Marsh. Join the Frog Talk at 4:00 or the Wetland Walk at 5:00 and enjoy the waterfront.
Later in the evening bring your picnic, bug spray, and flashlight and walk into the Darlington Provincial Park along the westerly trail (again, located at the foot of Col. Sam Drive) to Picnic Area 3 where live entertainment including live music and story telling will begin at 6pm and go till 9:30 p.m.
A great way to enjoy the waterfront.
