Hi

does anyone know where the city dump is? How do we get there and how it works....even a website??/ cant find anything?
the dump that I go to is in N. Oshawa...I'm not sure of the address but it's at Ritson and Taunton, go north on Ritson pass Taunton you can't miss it on the left. It's closed Sunday and Monday...open Tuesday-Saturday 8-4pm. You drive in and they weigh your load, you dump and get weighed again when you pay.Hope you find it
Not sure if you are aware but you get one free pick up a calendar year of 12 items from the regular garbage pick up.
thanks George!!!

I know Kitties...already used it last yearSad
The other waste transfer station is in Pickering. From "the Shores", it is closer and easier to get to than Ritson.

It's just south of Bayly on Squires Beach Road. It's the same deal as the one on Ritson -- you pay based on how much you dump.

A full van load usually runs me about $20.
I heard the one in Pickering is privately owned and a little more expensive.  From what I understand if your load is all household hazardous materials (i.e. oil, antifreeze) the North Oshawa location will let you dump for free.

Here's the website:

I know that this thread is dated, but heres a little bit more info on dumps in our area!

Most of the dumps in the area are owned by Miller waste, the same people who operate the local garbage pickup in a lot of areas. There is a dump too, that is a lot closer to Whitby shores and doesnt have a minimum charge either (a lot of private dumps are $20 minimum)
Go along Victoria to Thickson, south on Thickson to Wentworth, go left and just over the bridge past Makita is a turning lane for Pebblestone waste. The same thing applies, pull up to the scale, wait for the green light, go onto the scale, wait for the green light, go into the building and dump your loot, pull onto the scale on the way out, wait for the green light, then go in and pay and your done!

I've used both the Oshawa dump and the Pickering Dump and in my experience I found the Pickering dump to be a little cheaper and less busy. The Oshawa dump can get very busy on Tuesdays and Saturdays with the lineup being a few hundred meters long. The downside to the Pickering dump is they use one person for entering and exiting so if there is any kind of a line up (which is rare) you may have to wait when you're entering/exiting while he/she deals with the other side.

I just came from the Miller waste site in Pickering and it was fast and cheap. They state a minimum charge of $5 but I ended up paying $4 because I had only light things (lots of styrofoam). I won't be going back to the Ritson Road site...
