The community is invited to join almost 600 students and staff from William Dunbar Public School
in Pickering who will be decked out in purple and orange bandanas, balloons and flags during their 7th annual one-hour
“Walk for Together for Autism,” on Friday, April 27, at 1:00 pm, to raise awareness about autism and funds for autism research.
I heard that a study in 2005 reported that one child in 175 ( if I remember right)was being diagnosed with autism. That's compared with 1 per 2,500 in 1970 to 1 per 285 in 1999. I think there needs to be alot more research done, sooner than later, and the government needs to wake up to the need of support for the families affected by autism. My neice is 17 yrs old, and autistic, and needs cared for, 24 hrs a day.
