Awesome news. I can't wait to see the plans for the school and the site. We live directly across the street so we're a little more invested than most. I'm also going to be watching very closely to see what the plans are for the "GREAT" tree that is at the corner of the property at WSG and Topsail. I don't want to have to chain myself to it but I will if I need to ;o)
Freakin' sweet!!! This should encourage folks with babies (like yours truly) to stay instead of moving to a different school area.
how about we start a new campaign? we'll call it the "Whitby Shores High School Campaign" since most kids will be in high school by the time this public school is built. At least mine will...
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Nobody wants a high school. Don't even speak such words in jest ;o) High schools are property value killers. We have a 7 month old so 2010, 2011, 2012 works for us ;o)
Hey George. how about a college or university? We moved here 10 years ago, and one of the selling features were the schools that were promised. My son was in grade 1, and we thought it was great that he could walk to school. He was going to C.E. Broughton and I had to take him up there every morning and pick him up. We finally saw that this was not an interim thing and moved him to West Lynde, and he could at least take the bus. Now he will be in grade 12 next year at Henry High. So this "great news" is 10 years late. So now, we would personally rather it didn't happen and make that field into a nice park and extension of what is there.
I am happy for those with pre-schoolers, you will get what we were promised 10 years ago!
Enjoy

Maybe not....it'll be a good break to have him go away for university

I'd go for a university. Maybe Eco-College?

Can't wait for the details.
2010? 2011? 2012? .......maybe when all the new proposed development starts then maybe they will start...2013? 2014? I think we should be talking now about a high school.
I'm very excited to hear (and see) what the plans will be for the new school ... what it will look like, where the driveways and parking lot will be, how the 'Great' Tree will be incorporated ;o) and how they'll deal with dropping off and picking up students. I'd like to see a proper kiss and ride to minimize congestion and a traffic circle for buses but we'll see. We live right across from the lot so hopefully the design will be well done (modern?) and an attractive addition to the neighbourhood.
