Hi Heddy,

I have asked Parks staff to give me an update on what is taking place with the Eggert Park and also the splashpad at the main park.

I will update the forum when I receive this.
Eggert Park

The issue of the orange fencing is one that the seed mix that has been planted was to germinate; what will be happening is that the Eco Lawn seed mix has to be planted as the original mix was not the proper mix; this will take time for the germination as well.

The park benches should be in place I have not been for a visit this past week; but that was the timing for the benches.

Portage Park

This also is in the works in the upcoming weeks and some of this should have commenced.

The work will involve a power washing of the area, some seal work and then applying the new coats of plexi-pave surfacing.

This generally takes 2-3 days with dry weather consecutively.

I hope this helps.
Then why did we have to pay for the weeds (wild flowers) in our new parkette,,,,,,,time would have done it for free,,,and time is what there has been alot of. The only difference right now between the park, and the conservation area, is the lovely orange plastic fence,,,,,,,,
All the above is light hearted of course. I love the look of wild flowers,,,but I would hate to see what we paid for them.
It all looks fairly mature now,,,so when can we enjoy it??????
I'm thinking,,,,probably after the first snow fall,,,,,lol
The seed has germinated,,,,we have a lovely field of "wild flowers",or is it weeds?????,,,,the summer is well on it's way to being over, and this park should have been finished last year,,,,,,why is it taking so long to take down the lovely orange fence,,,,,,,the only difference I see between the parkette, and the conservation area, is the walkways, and benches,,,lets get on with it.
I hope the hospital hasn't been the issue here
I suggest that you all pm Elizabeth Roy, with your concerns. I have already, but I think the more the better.
The way it looks now,,,I'm wondering why we are calling it a parkette,,,,,,,
Personally,,,I'm extremely disappointed. Even though I am on Seaboard Gate,,I expected to see a nice parkette at the bottom of Lighthouse.
What I see is a field like the conservation area,,,,,and we had to pay extra to get it. On top of that,,,,it's taking forever to complete,,,,unless the orange fence is part of the ambiance,,,lol.
For what we have, it's taking to long to complete.
I can't help think that the hospital/smoking issue has a big part to play in all this.
I think we all need to get together and have our own parkette opening ceremony,,,and tear down the fence.
This long weekend of course , was the perfect time for it.
Thanks for getting back to us, Elizabeth.
It's hard to be patient though, considering how long we have had to be patient already,,,,,,,there is allways next summer, I guess.

This is all and good but it would be very nice if for the time being, they at least take down the fence (ASAP) and cut the two feet on either side of the paths so at least it looks presentable and the neighbourhood can enjoy the new parkette before the snow flies.

I think the people living so close to parkette should group together and tackle the job of cutting the weeds...I know if I lived so close to such an eye sore I would be definately doing something about it instead of waiting for town or contractor...oh wait! I have a great idea. How about a neighbourhood weed party?LOL

Now that the weeds are cleared away,,,,,I see we have one bench seat,,,,,,,,wow,,,I'm going to get in line tomorrow,,,,,lol
My mistake,,,,there are two benches,,,,,,side by each. Now I guess I have to watch my language, in case I offend the people on the other bench,,,,lol
