Hey,
Does anyone know what's going on with the hospital? It has been empty (non-functioning) for over a year now. There seems to be no more construction happening. Lights are on, HVAC system is running, but no patients. What a waste of electricity. Just curious.
My understanding is that since the fire occurred, the building now does not meet code and needs major renovations before it can reopen. Of course funds are always an issue and I'm not sure where they are in the process of upgrading the facility. It is also possible they might not reopen it, from what I've heard. Someone else might have some more official info for you, though!

My guess, more high density residential...yikes!
Great news everyone there will be activity at the hospital with the first phase of bringing back the programs to the hospital.

This link is for the proposal from the review group to open up the hospital; now the final approval from the Ministry of Health is what the hospital is waiting for.
So in the interim you are going to see on site in the next few days a larger size portable that will be utilize to provide services for dialysis.
This portable is being moved from Peterborough where other programs were in the portables until the new hospital opened. The same at Ajax Pickering(Rouge Valley) has similar setup outside the emergency.
No residential to come in at this site.
Thanks
Liz
Thanks very much for the info Liz. I read the release, but I did not see any mention of the portables. Do you know how soon those may be up & running?
