Jason is correct with his overview on how this may play out. If the developer is still intent on moving forward with this development, they will go to the OMB.
Perhaps, the number of condos may be reduced or even delayed since we seem to be heading for a downturn in the real estate market. It may be hard to sell a condo in Whitby soon. Especially when potential buyers see what their taxes may end up being.
At least the first phase of this development is an office tower/complex. That's a good start, but residents (mostly those that have homes on Point Hope Pl.) are trying to knock down the height of 20 storeys to something less. Again some comments at the last meeting were unbeleivable. Someone suggested that when all the buildings are complete that it will amplify the noise from the 401 and trains. Wha???? How is building a barrier between the 410 and the tracks going to amplify that noise? Another said that birds of prey catch their food in those fields - that a study should be performed to determine the impact on those birds. Hello!!!! there is a huge conservsation area just west of there with a big bird sanctuary. I have falcons sitting on my backyard fence checking out my bird feeders. LOL.
Anyways, again I am ranting. I know everyone has their concerns and that's ok. However, those that are pro development need to be more vocal at the next meeting on Sept. 2. Myself included.
