Did anyone else who lives around Portage Park hear the kids playing basketball at 4 AM this morning? My guess is, it is these same kids who are egging houses and breaking into cars. My question is, where do these kids' parents think they are at 4 am????? I thought about calling the police but didn't..this time..I will definitely call next time I hear them. Annoying.........
That is one of the primary reasons we moved from Portage (right across from the BB court) to Whitby Shores. I actually went out once and fixed the net to make it quieter. But it gets so much use that the fix lasted a week tops. but I wouldn't link BB with other bad behaviour.

Jabber.

I don't think feather is linking basketball with other bad behaviour -- I think that he/she is linking being out at 4 am with other bad behaviour.

I do wonder about what the parents are thinking -- why would anyone let their kids be out at that time of the night??

I'm nominating these kids parents for our first ever "Parent of the Year" award. Ya, I would of called the cops!
That is correct. I am definitely not linking playing basketballl to the bad behaviour but being out at 4 am~
OK, pain in the butt ... sure.  Rude, somewhat.  Thoughtless, absolutely.

But seriously?  Does no one here remember that feeling of all those new experiences and possibilities that comes along with BEING a kid?  Summer holidays, working til midnight (or later) at your first job, first friend with a car, high school, young love?  None of these things ring a nostaligic bell for you?  (maybe you do and that's why your so bitter and scared ... HA HA HA HA)

How old were these kids?  Were they 4?  Before we go judging the parents, maybe you should get up for a 3 am bed check to make sure they're not your kids who snuck out while you were sleeping.

BTW: As you can see from my posting time, I'm doing a bed check and it's not mine ... HA HA HA.
I agree! There is nothing criminal with being outside at 4 am. You have a problem with the noise level - go ahead and complain but please don't make the connection between just being outside at night and some criminal intent.
And by the way, all those things ring a very nostalgic ring for me Smile

Agreed, there is nothing criminal about being outside at 4 AM. I, too, remember many a fun night being out until the wee hours of the morning. However, there is something called "respect" that my parents instilled in me and even when I was out enjoying my teenage/young adult years, I can guarantee I wasn't waking people up at 4 AM.
