Having read every word that WhitbyShoresHomeowner has written on the subject of development in the area I just wanted to say how impressed I have been with your comments and your contributions to this site. Your research on every aspect of the development has been informative. It would be fabulous if we could nominate you as a spokeperson for all of us who disagree with the current EcoPlace plans. Thanks
That's very kind...thank you. I just hope my contributions spark some discussion. It's an issue for our whole community. WSH

I was there last nite. The meeting went well past midnight, but didn't start till after 9:30 pm. The developer had applied to the OMB already in order to move forward with phase one. It would seem that most councel members will support the current application from Nordeagle Phase 1. The Mayor tried to ammend some wording to the application in order to appease both the planning department and the developer. Especially concerning a "hold" issue that the planning department wanted to include in the application. She seemed concerned that any further delays will push prospective corporations to not consider to locate in Whitby. I am in agreement that "A" list corporations need to see that Whitby means business. Not sure when a decision will be made.

I think the chances of anything being developed there in the next few years are getting smaller and smaller with everyday. In the current economic climate, I'm not sure if they will be able to get the financing on the terms they want. This is not the time to take risks, and a development like this one depends on a lot of things going right. And I'm not saying this with glee - it's just a sign of tough times ahead of us.
