The Whitby Town Carnival is this Saturday and Sunday.

Come on out and enjoy some family fun at Cullen Park.

Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:00am; also on Saturday night we have movie in the park, starting at dusk.

Hope to see you there.
I was wondering how the Town Carnival went this year. I didn't hear that much about it as it was tucked neatly away at Cullen Gardens Central Park.

I did attend it last year with my kids and they loved it. We actually participated in the drum concert in front of the old Firehall. My daughter particularly like that.

I have heard from one person about the event. She wrote a letter to the Whitby paper. She didn't like the event and she felt it was out of the way at Central Park. She said it didn't have the same feel being in a large empty field.

Actually, I miss the event and ahve to wonder also why it was moved. Was it punishment for downtown business for not coming together on downtown redevelopment or refurbishment. I tend to think so.

I think it was Ex- Mayor BRUNELLS snap decision.

I say bring the town Carnival back to downtown where it belongs!
I agree with Smooth Sailing...bring the Town Carnival back to Downtown. We attended it a few years back in Downtown and it was more of a Mardi gras event and the businesses did well by it and the music and atmosphere was fun. Everything is moving towards the north because of space issues and lets face it police monitoring of crowds too. Guess its costly to cover the Downtown but they sure need something to perk it up during the afternoons. Night time bars are packed but I'm getting too old to enjoy that night life. Its too bad the walking areas and stores weren't more condusive to pedestrians so you could enjoy the stroll through Downtown. Oh well. Enjoy the Carnival everyone. Kids will have fun for sure!
The park by the water, Haydon Shores, is almost as large as the area used for the carnival. Was anythought given to using that area I wonder?
I loved it when the carnival was in the downtown area...much more fun then it was at Cullen Gardens last year. Didnt really like it at all. I even enjoyed the Mardi gras parade...my girls still talk about that.
