Lots to do on Canada Day in the Durham Region!
Whitby always had kids activities at Heydonshores, and the Scouts along with another service club volunteered with face painting, games, and a bbq. Like you I don't see anything posted other then the fireworks and pizza. Here's some fun stuff to do not far from home that you can enjoy, then come back over here for fireworks in the evening.
Oshawa hosts their Canada Day event down at the waterfront.
Celebrate Canada Day at Lakeview Park
The City of Oshawa invites residents to celebrate Canada’s birthday on Sunday, July 1 at Lakeview Park in Oshawa. The event is presented in part by the Auto Workers Community Credit Union. The park comes alive at noon with live stage entertainment and interactive activities for the whole family. The event features Suzie McNeil from Rockstar: INXS. Ajax has their events down at the waterfront too.
Activities include: opening remarks by Emcee Terry Johnston of CKDO, celebration cake, pony rides and petting zoo, inflatable rides, carnival games, magic show (at 2 p.m.), strolling buskers, food and beverages, train rides, community group displays and demonstrations, giant mural painting, and much more! Parking is limited and parking restrictions will be enforced. Use our convenient shuttle bus service, provided by Stock transportation. For schedule information, click on Route 1 and Route 2.
