RE: whitby shorelands development
If you are talking about the Senator Homes Harbourside development the land is under development as I type. I have heard that move-in dates have been delayed - October possession dates are now February.

If you are talking about the townhouse development that was being sold out of the plaza I'm pretty sure that is dead in the water and the land is now up for sale....but Liza homes was involved in that somehow, so who knows. There is absolutely nothing happening at that site, though, so it would take a large miracle to be moving into anything there by this fall...unless you're talking about pitching a tent.

RE: whitby shorelands development
I was wondering where you heard the information that closing dates for the Senator Development have been delayed yet again.
The last time I heard which was a month ago was that there were no October closings and that all closings were December which is 8 months away. How can the company forsee delays 8 months from now. If what you are saying is true that would mean the folks that bought their home when the sales office first opened have had to wait 2 YEARS for their home....

RE: whitby shorelands development
Just through the grapevine, talking to a friend who knows someone that bought a Harbourside townhome. Their original closing date was October 2010 and is now February 2011.

2 years to wait for a new home is really not out of the ordinary, I don't think, particularly with the slowdown in the economy the last couple of years that meant it took longer for builders/developers to sell enough homes to actually justify starting the work on services, site development, etc. If you bought in the first few months of sales - long before any work started on the site -- you had to know that you were in for a long haul. New home developments are notorious for never being completed on time --- just ask the hundreds of people in this development who had possession dates pushed back time & again, by all the different builders in the neighborhood.

RE: whitby shorelands development
thanks for the swift reply nrw. it was for the liza homes development (townhouses). i believe she is still paying them too. shouldn't they inform their clients? she will be very angry when she finds out! do you know what they plan on doing with that land? i wonder who else have bought from them, that are unaware of the situation. if you hear anything else, please let me know. thank you again!

RE: whitby shorelands development
As I said above:

If you are talking about the townhouse development that was being sold out of the plaza I'm pretty sure that is dead in the water and the land is now up for sale....but Liza homes was involved in that somehow, so who knows. There is absolutely nothing happening at that site, though, so it would take a large miracle to be moving into anything there by this fall...unless you're talking about pitching a tent.

I didn't say that I knew for certain....I do know that I read an online article somewhere - newspaper? new home review site? can't remember - talking about how the development wasn't selling. The sales office was closed at one point, someone else on this site posted that there was a sale sign on the property, and there hasn't been even a hint of development, surveying, services, promotion, etc on the site......all of which caused me to believe that the development wasn't happening.
IF that isn't the case - and it doesnt seem to be based on some other posts in this thread - then I hope things work out for the buyers, but Liza has a very bad reputation in this neighborhood for delays in possession and I wouldn't be booking any moving vans if it was me!!

RE: whitby shorelands development
You could consider calling the Town to see where this development is at in the process.

RE: whitby shorelands development
Officially, Liza(Shorelands) and Senator(Harbourside) are scheduled to close in the fall.

The builders havent changed their closing date, or let the buyers know otherwise.

It seems unlikely since they haven't started building, but I guess we'll see.
