I just wanted to send out a huge thanks to all of the people who have used my services over the past year!

Whitby Shores is close to home for me, and the fact that I have a growing satisfied customer base in my home area is huge to me! Being able to offer an architectural background and an onsite guarantee that I will personally be there to do, or oversee the changes being made, seems to be a great confidence booster to my clients when discussing their projects.

A slower economy is going to be the tell tale sign for a small business like mine, but being diverse enough to tackle everything from caulking windows to full finished basements will help a business like mine to succeed.

Anyone who is looking for anything from maintenance on their home, to basements, flooring, windows etc.... shouldnt hesitate to call or email me
905-665-3874 or fulldeck@rogers.com.

I have a great reference list in Whitby shores and the surrounding area that I would be glad to share!

Thanks in advance, and to all, have a great 2009!

Humane Society of Durham - Elizabeth Roy Please respond

This is a question to Elizabeth Roy. Can you please explain why the Humane Society is having (and had in the past - possibly resulting in the devasting fire that killed nearly 200 animals) such a hard time finding a place to rebuild? From what I understand (please correct me if I am wrong) the municipalities are not re-zoning any of the areas that have been offered for the shelter to rebuild. This is incredible giving the many animal lovers we have in this area and the fact that the Humane Society performs a much needed service in rescuing the many abused and abandoned animals in the area, where are these poor creatures supposed to go now?

There seems to be no problem re-zoning when builders want to build huge developments but when a non-profit making facility desperately needs help - nothing seems to be done.

I would appreciate your comments

Hey to all my ingenious neighbours who put out your blue boxes jam-packed full of Christmas recyclables tonight in a windstorm. Yeah that's right I am calling you out!

I am sitting here as 12:41am at my computer listening to all of your cans and plastic containers bounce and roll down the street. Something tells me you all aren't going to wake up tomorrow morning and retrieve your mess. Most of your boxes will be empty and the truck will not have even arrived yet.

Well done people. Thanks for littering! Did you all lose your common sense this Christmas? Just brutal.

On the contrary, we are putting our bins out in the morning as we don't like to litter our community with pop cans, juice boxes and egg cartons.

OK, this may seem a bit strange...

Today my husband went into our walk-in closet and discovered that the trap door cover leading to the attic had been moved. By moved, I mean that it was half open and you could see up into the attic and see the beams of the roof. Not sure if you have ever looked at the cover, but it is about 1.5 ft thick with a styrofoam backing. It sits in a deep well. The cover was tilted and on an angle. Even the trim surrounding the cover was loose. He didn't move it and neither did I. Our kids are too young. We suspected either an animal or an intruder. My husband got the ladder from the garage and went up for a look. He didn't think that anyone (or anything) had been up there.

Anyhow, we called the police to file a report. We didn't have any signs of a forced entry or exit. Nothing was missing from the house. The officer thought that it could have been the recent heavy winds, but even he was skeptical. My husband didn't notice any degree of wind, nor a draft in the attic. The insulation wasn't blown around at all.

The officer was intrigued as he said that he responded to a similar call, in this neighbourhood, about 5 years ago...

Strange coincidence, but just checking my e-mail, I saw the following article today on Yahoo news...

"Man spent days unnoticed hiding in Pennsylvania family's attic"

There has been a rash of break-ins recently, where the individuals kick in the front door, go straight to the master bedroom, and take jewellery and whatever is available, then get out - all under a minute. Don't forget to put away that jewellery, and do not leave your Christmas presents obvious. Here is a little poem from neighbourhood watch for the season:

YOU’D BETTER WATCH OUT”

            (a Neighbourhood Watch adaptation of the original version)

A week before Christmas, we bring you advice;

There are people around who are not very nice.

They are out on the prowl for a quick easy score;

So please be aware of who’s at your door.

They can walk past your window and take just one glance,

Size up your gifts and take that big chance.

Through an unlocked front door, or a window out back,

They’ll come into your house and fill up their sack.

They’ll be gone in one minute; they move very fast;

Your house wasn’t the first and it won’t be the last.

So we offer some tips to help stamp out this crime,

And to help you remember, we’ve made them all rhyme.

Out for the night, so leave on a light,

Or a radio on, then they won’t know you’re gone.

Lock the good deadbolt, you’ve installed on the door;

This item alone could stop a crook’s score.

Remember, don’t show off those presents you’ve bought;

Keep drapes tightly closed, or it might be for naught.

Someone suspicious is lurking next door?

Call the police; it’s what they’re there for!

By helping each other, we’ll avoid so much grief.

By keeping alert, maybe you’ll stop a thief.

So have a safe holiday, full of good cheer,

And don’t let a criminal spoil your New Year!

My Father recently moved into a new home with roughed in central vac. He took his canister from the old house. The new house is a bungaloft, so there are two outlets. He called somebody to finish the rough in for him and said it would cost $300, and he scheduled the guy. When I went to his house, I saw the termination point in the garage with the wiring, and I thought I saw all the pvc in the basement hooked up....I was wrong. I told him, that $300 was ridiculous because all they had to do is put in two outlets and hook the canister up. I had him cancel and I went to do the job. I bout the two outlets and a little extra flex hose for the canister hookup. When I went to the basement I realized that the rough in wasn't completely hooked up as I thought.

The one from the loft goes directly to the garage, the one from the main floor goes straight down to the basement and is only a few feet from the garage. Now I need somebody that can finish the job and not rip off a senior! Any suggestions??? I need to redeem myself now
:)

Thanks !!!!!!

I don't think I have ever seen it move. It never get cleaned when it snows, and the snow plows push the snow around it. Looks like the city put a ticket in the door recently too.

Now that it is winter it is creating an irritating obstacle at the intersection.

Anyways if it does belong to someone, here is a suggestion
